Kenya lies in the EST Coast of Africa and has an area of 5826-+4 Sq. kin. Kenya’s National Parks and Reserves have occupied 7.6 of the total area of the Republic. Three main tourist circuits have been identified to enable clients utilize their time fully and get the best out of their holidays in KENYA. The circuits are Southern, Northern and Central, Western which can be shorten or stretched further depending on client’s wishes and the time they want to spend in Kenya.
KENYA COAST
The Kenyan Coast stretches 480km from Shirnoni to Lamu. It is undoubtedly one of the World’s greatest tourist resorts with unrivalled attractions. The Coast is divided into three, South Coast, North Coast and Mombasa. Its silver sanded beautiful beaches are a paradise to many holiday makers. Mombasa serves as the main touristic backbone along the coastline as the International Airport serve both the North and South Coasts. Historical landmarks of Vasco da Gama Pillar, Gede Ruins in Malindi and Fort Jesus in Mombasa are a true magnet to many historians and tourist.
KENYA’S BEST OF THE SOUTH (PARKS AND RESERVES)
SHIMBA HILLS RESERVE (FOR SAFARIS FROM THE COAST)
Shimba hills National Reserve is only 40km South of Mombasa. Established in 1968 to protect the last remaining herd of sable antelope, this park remains very popular for tourist along the Coast for an overnight stay. Other animals found in this reserve include the sable antelopes ,cousins, The Roan, Elephants, Buffaloes, Baboons, Giraffe and different species of bird life. The only tree hotel in The Coast, the Shimba Lodge is an ideal place foe holidaymakers and honeymooners.
TAITA HILLLS SANCTUARY
This 210Sqkm private sanctuary is the home of Elephants, Masai Giraffe, Lesser Kudu, Oryx and the Cat family. The panoramic views of Taita Hills from a distance are breathtaking. There are two lodges in the sanctuary. Taita Hills Lodge is the best for hot air balloon Safaris and Salt Lick Lodge, which has flood, it game holes and an underground tunnel provides a chance for short – range viewing.
TSAVO NATIONAL PARK
This is Kenya’s largest National Park an area approximately 21000Sq km, almost the size of the Wales. Divided into two by the Mombasa – Nairobi highway, Tsavo East measures 11655sqkm and Tsavo West 8345sqkm. The two Parks are known for their abundance of wildlife and beautiful scenery. The 300km Yatta Plateau runs parallel to the Galana River to The EAST AND Ngulia Ranges to the West. Tsavo West is known for its natural aquifer, the Mzima Springs and the Rhino sanctuary where the Rhino can be spotted.
AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK.
Just on the floor of Africa’s highest mountains lies Amboseli National Park. This 320sqkm park is small but very rich wild animals. It is only in Amboseli on the Southern circuit where you can find the highest concentration of animals per square kilometer. Here you can find the Elephant, Gnus, Water Buffaloes and other plains game and birds. The picture of a giraffe feeding on the tall acacia trees in front of this. Africa’s highest mountain is every photographer’s dream.
